Harcourt
The picturesque Harcourt Valley is a haven for the finest locally grown fruit which can be purchased right from farm gates. Off the highway, roads weave through stunning scenery, past fields of fruit trees, grape vines and lavender. The granite soils of Harcourt and Sutton Grange produce a number of fine wines. The Taste of Gold food and wine trail brochures are available from the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre, as is the Vine to Vintage Trail. These brochures allow you to weave your way to the food and wine gems of the region.
Mount Alexander Regional Park sits magnificently above the valley. With a well-made tourist road traversing the ridgeline, the mountain offers panoramic views and a natural forest setting for picnicking and walking. From Lang’s Lookout atop the mount you can see for 50 kilometres in any direction. An oak forest planted for the hide tanning process is a hidden delight nestled in the northern foothills of the mount.
