The most easterly town of the Mount Alexander Shire, Metcalfe is a hidden gem. Off the beaten track, Metcalfe and surrounds boast some stunning natural features. The Cascades just outside the town centre and Turpins falls down the road are very scenic spots which are fed by the Coliban and Campaspe Rivers respectively.
Metcalfe gained its name from Baron Metcalfe who was Governor-General of Canada.
